A public celebration of life is scheduled for Friday in Brownsville, Texas, for actor RJ Mitte, best known for his role as Walter White Jr. in the acclaimed television series "Breaking Bad." Hundreds, possibly thousands, of mourners are expected to attend the service.
Mitte, whose full name was Raymond Matthew Mitte, was found dead in his Texas home. Neighbors described hearing "blood-curdling screams and horror" before police arrived at the residence. His mother, Dyna, was seen for the first time since his death, appearing grief-stricken as she spoke with family members near the location where the service will be held.
The Mitte family are prominent philanthropists in Brownsville, known for running a charitable foundation and a cultural arts district. The Mitte Center in downtown Brownsville will host the celebration of life, with an overflow area set up at the Cannery Public Market next door to accommodate the anticipated attendance.
Mitte served as the honorary parade marshal for the Charro Days Fiesta in 2022. The actor had previously spoken about his struggles to find work after his breakout role in "Breaking Bad." His engagement to Kennedy Suarez was announced about a year prior to his death.
