Ritual Launches New Non-Hormonal Supplement for Perimenopause Symptoms

Ritual, a supplement company founded in 2016, has introduced a new daily pill designed to help women manage perimenopause symptoms without relying on hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The supplement, called Perimenopause Health, was developed in collaboration with OB/GYNs on Ritual’s scientific advisory board and focuses on supporting hormone balance.

Perimenopause, the transitional period before menopause, is characterized by fluctuating estrogen levels, which can lead to a range of symptoms including irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. These symptoms can begin as early as the 30s and last for up to a decade. With a current shortage of estrogen patches and not all individuals being suitable candidates for HRT, many women are exploring natural alternatives. A 2023 study indicated that over 50% of women seek such options.

Ritual's Perimenopause Health supplement contains diindolylmethane (DIM), a compound that aids in the breakdown of estrogen. The supplement also includes SheVari4, a derivative of shatavari extract, which has been clinically shown to improve mood, sleep, and reduce hot flashes and night sweats. Additionally, it features evening primrose to support DIM absorption and help ease night sweats, along with vitamin B to support hormonal activity.

Like other Ritual products, Perimenopause Health is made with traceable ingredients, is vegan, sugar-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO. It is third-party tested and does not contain any hormones. The company emphasizes transparency and the use of science-backed formulas, holding a certified B Corporation status.

Ritual suggests that even women not yet experiencing obvious perimenopause symptoms, but who are in their mid-30s and older, may benefit from the supplement for general hormone support and healthy cortisol levels. The company advises consulting a physician before starting any new supplement regimen. Perimenopause is described as a natural part of life, and finding supportive aids can be key to navigating this stage.
