Rita Wilson, who is approaching her 70th birthday, has unveiled a significant new tattoo on her back. The actress shared a topless photograph on Instagram over the weekend, with her back turned to the camera to display the extensive ink, which appears to be a cross.
Wilson, who is married to actor Tom Hanks, captioned the post with lyrics from her song "Stranger With Age," questioning if she was "stranger with age" and expressing her enjoyment of the process. The new tattoo bears a resemblance to a tattoo her son, Chet Hanks, received in 2023. Chet Hanks, who identifies as a born-again Christian, has stated that his purpose is to serve God, and he revealed his tattoo last year, commenting on the world's need for more of God.
Wilson herself is a Greek Orthodox and has spoken about the importance of her faith. She explained in a 2019 interview that her father converted to Greek Orthodoxy, and her husband, Tom Hanks, also converted. Both of her sons are also Greek Orthodox. Wilson begins each day with a prayer of gratitude and also prays for those in need of support.
Wilson and Hanks met in 1981 and married in 1988. They have two sons together, Chet, 36, and Truman, 30. Hanks also has two older children, Colin and Elizabeth, from his previous marriage. The couple has three grandchildren.
