Rita Ora Addresses 'Becky With the Good Hair' Rumors and Discusses New Music
The singer shares updates on her upcoming album and reflects on past speculation surrounding Beyoncé's 'Lemonade'.
Singer Rita Ora recently shared a series of candid moments with her Instagram followers, offering a peek into her busy week which included time in the recording studio working on her fourth album.
In one post, Ora, 35, showcased her toned physique in a black bralette and red joggers while taking a selfie in her car. She also posted a photo from the recording studio, hinting at new music in the works. The singer's updates also included a picture celebrating passing her driving test and an elevator selfie.
Ora also took the opportunity to address the long-standing speculation that she was the inspiration behind the lyric "Becky with the good hair" from Beyoncé's 2016 song "Sorry." Ora, who left Jay-Z's record label around the time the song was released, has repeatedly denied the accusations.
"I don't know who initiated that whole Becky drama, but I'd love to find out who it was," Ora stated. "It's always woman pitted against woman and you can be sure neither of us had anything to gain." She recalled the incident with Louis Theroux in 2022, explaining that a lemon-printed bra she wore was a coincidence and part of a collaboration with an underwear company. She also clarified that a necklace she wore at the time was an "R," not a "J," and that a "Not Becky" badge was a humorous gift from Katy Perry.
Ora expressed frustration with media attention often focusing on her personal life rather than her career achievements. "It's interesting 'cause I feel like everyone is very interested in my personal life, like everything else is not worthy enough," she said. "Which, sometimes, is frustrating because I have also got a lot of credentials to sustain my respect."
Earlier this month, Ora shared a collection of summer photos, including one of herself in a sequin bikini. Her social media album also featured images with her husband, Taika Waititi, and nights out with friends.
Ora's Metallic Range, a collaboration with Primark launched in November 2024, featured metallic trousers and festive outfits.
