Rio Ferdinand has reunited with his wife Kate and their children after a six-week absence, sharing an emotional video of their reunion on Instagram on Wednesday. Ferdinand had been working in the U.S. covering the World Cup, leaving Kate to manage their household in Dubai with their four children: stepson Tate, 17; stepdaughter Tia, 14; son Cree, 4; and daughter Shae, 2.

The video captured the moment Ferdinand's taxi arrived home, with his younger children Cree and Shae running to embrace him. Ferdinand’s stepdaughter Tia also joined the reunion, followed by a hug and kiss from his wife, Kate.

Kate shared her joy, writing, “A very long 6 weeks without our @rioferdy5, we’ve all missed him so much. Couldn’t be happier to have him home.”

During Ferdinand's absence, Kate had shared glimpses of her solo parenting efforts, including a countdown chart for “Daddy’s return” and her attempts to maintain a fitness routine while juggling work and family responsibilities. She had previously spoken about the challenges of raising a blended family.

Kate and Rio Ferdinand began their relationship in 2017, two years after the death of Rio’s first wife, Rebecca, in 2015. Kate moved into the family home in 2018 and they married the following year. She has been open about the complexities of becoming a step-parent, documenting her experiences on her podcast, 'Blended,' which aims to support others in similar situations. The podcast has featured candid conversations with her stepchildren, including Tate, about their journey to becoming a cohesive family unit. Tate has previously discussed the initial difficulties in his relationship with Kate and his feelings of jealousy and loyalty towards his late mother.
