Rihanna performed at a surprise midnight concert hosted by Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, on Sunday. Her partner, A$AP Rocky, attended the event with their 10-month-old daughter, Rocki. Rocky held their daughter, who was barefoot and wearing a white chiffon dress, while he wore a red top, matching jacket, and shorts.
Rihanna, also known as Robyn Fenty, performed two songs: Jay-Z's 2009 track "Run This Town" and her own 2015 hit "Bitch Better Have My Money." She wore an all-black Saint Laurent outfit. "Y'all know I'm rusty, right? It's been a while. Y'all with me right now? I missed this s***, y'all! New York, I love you guys!" Rihanna told the crowd.
The concert experienced a delay as security managed a situation where approximately 10,000 individuals without tickets attempted to breach the stadium entrance. Jay-Z apologized for the inconvenience, explaining the delay was to ensure the safety of ticket holders and prevent potential trampling.
Other notable guests at the concert included Beyoncé, Pharrell, Usher, Teyana Taylor, Jermaine Dupri, The-Dream, Clipse, Jeezy, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Athelston Mayers, also have a son, RZA Athelston Mayers, who is four years old. Their second son, Riot Rose Mayers, will celebrate his fourth birthday on August 1.
Rihanna previously supported A$AP Rocky when he faced legal issues stemming from a 2021 shooting incident. He was found not guilty of two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm last year.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky first met in 2011 when he was featured on her song "Cockiness (Love It)." They began dating in 2020.
In other music-related news, A$AP Rocky recently revived the 1994 Puma "Suede" sneaker, which was scheduled for a global release following a pop-up event in Manhattan's Chinatown. He is also preparing for his 49-date "Don't Be Dumb Tour," set to begin in Brussels, Belgium, on August 25.
