Ricky Hatton, the former world boxing champion, amassed an estimated £30 million fortune before his death last September at the age of 46. However, nearly a year after his passing, uncertainty surrounds how his estate will be distributed, with his family reportedly facing a breakdown in communication with the appointed trustees.

Sources close to the family describe the situation as a "complete mess," according to The Sun. It was believed that Hatton intended for his fortune to be passed on to his three children: Campbell, 25, and daughters Millie, 14, and Fearne, 12. His son, Campbell, stated, "My family is still completely in the dark. We’ve had no involvement in my dad’s finances for over 15 years."

During his prolific boxing career, Hatton utilized his earnings to establish a business empire, with significant investments in property. These ventures were located in his hometown of Hyde, as well as in Leicestershire, London, and Kent. A source close to Hatton remarked that he was "determined to ensure that he had a financial legacy from his incredible career," adding that he "done a great job of providing for the people he loved the most, his children."

In related news, Hatton's former home, where he was found last September, was recently sold for £1.5 million. The property had a turbulent sale process; it was initially listed for £1.85 million shortly before his death, then taken off the market, relisted for £1.75 million, reduced to £1.65 million, and finally sold for £1.5 million. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion, built in 2010, was described by estate agents as a "landmark modern residence offering luxury, space and unrivalled lifestyle features."

The property featured numerous luxury amenities, including a home cinema, a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a private gym, and a games room with a bar, separated from the pool by a glass wall. The principal bedroom suite offered a walk-in dressing room and a luxurious en suite bathroom. Hatton had personalized the house with elements such as a traditional telephone box in the garden and Manchester City memorabilia, including seats salvaged from the club's former Maine Road stadium.

Hatton's legacy

Hatton took his own life in September last year, and trustees were appointed to manage his estate. The ongoing dispute over the distribution of his assets continues, leaving his family awaiting clarity on the future of his considerable wealth.
