Ricky Gervais' Partner Jane Fallon Recovers From Breast Cancer, Discusses Treatment Side Effects

Jane Fallon, partner of comedian Ricky Gervais, has announced she is cancer-free after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in December 2025. Fallon, an author, shared the news of her recovery but noted that she continues to experience significant fatigue as a side effect of her tamoxifen treatment.

Fallon, 65, revealed her diagnosis on March 12, 2026, following a routine mammogram. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor and a margin of healthy tissue, with surgeons reporting in April that they had "basically got it all." A second operation was also successful.

Despite her recovery, Fallon described the side effects of tamoxifen as "exhausting." In a recent social media post, she explained that the medication causes a persistent need to sleep, leading her to leave an event early to avoid falling asleep in public. She shared a picture from her bed with her cat, expressing a desire for mac and cheese.

Tamoxifen is a medication commonly prescribed after surgery and radiation to eliminate any remaining cancer cells and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Fallon and Gervais met in 1982 while studying at University College London. They have been together for 44 years and have chosen not to marry or have children, with Fallon stating she never fantasized about weddings or motherhood, preferring to focus on her career and life.

Gervais, also 65, recently indicated plans to marry Fallon, citing inheritance tax as the primary motivation. He noted that their unmarried status would mean a significant portion of his estate could be subject to a 40% inheritance tax upon his death, as they would not benefit from the spouse exemption. Gervais, with an estimated net worth of £141 million, owns substantial property holdings, including a £14.75 million mansion in Hampstead.
