Ricki Lake Says Rosie O'Donnell Judged Her Facelift, Then Got One Herself

Ricki Lake revealed that her friend Rosie O'Donnell was initially "judgy" about her decision to undergo a facelift. Lake, 58, shared on an episode of "The Weekend View" that she opted for the procedure in 2024 after losing approximately 40 pounds naturally.

"We just went south," Lake explained about her appearance post-weight loss, emphasizing that her goal was not to look younger but to address the effects of gravity. "I have my natural gray hair. I really own my age and I love the age I am at."

However, not everyone in her circle was immediately supportive. Lake stated that O'Donnell, whom she considers a close friend, expressed reservations. "She would admit it that she was judgy of myself and a few of my friends that went to this doctor and had these amazing results," Lake said. "She's like, 'Why do you need it?'"

Lake recounted that O'Donnell herself later underwent the same procedure after losing about 50 pounds using Mounjaro. O'Donnell publicly shared her experience in a May Substack post and an Instagram message, where she admitted to previously viewing facelifts as a "betrayal" of feminism and women. Her perspective shifted, she wrote, after her own weight loss led to what she described as "melting with intention."

Lake detailed her own procedure, which included a deep-plane lower face and neck lift and a CO2 laser, but not her eyes. She expressed great satisfaction with the results, crediting Dr. Alan Foulad in Los Angeles as "a master."

Previously, Lake mentioned on the "Inside Edit" podcast in March that her decision to get a facelift was impulsive, made after a consultation in mid-June and booked for mid-July. She described having "an appendage hanging" after her weight loss that she felt would not naturally improve.
