Richard Gere, 76, was seen filming romantic scenes for the upcoming drama "Asymmetry" in New York City this week, holding hands and embracing his co-star, 28-year-old Diana Silvers.
The film, based on Lisa Halliday's 2018 novel of the same name, centers on an unlikely connection between a young editorial assistant, Alice (Silvers), and a renowned author, Ezra (Gere). The logline describes their relationship as a "life-changing rabbit hole" that risks exposure. Oscar winner Edward Zwick is directing, producing, and writing the film.
Gere, who will turn 77 next month, appeared at ease with Silvers, who played opposite Justin Long in "Booksmart." The actors were observed chatting warmly and reviewing scenes on a monitor between takes.
The age difference between Gere and Silvers mirrors aspects of his own life; he is in an age-gap relationship with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 43. The couple, who married in 2018, share two young sons, Alexander and James.
In a recent interview, Gere spoke proudly of his son, Homer Gere, 26, who is also forging a career in acting. Homer Gere is set to appear in Ryan Murphy's "The Shards," an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel, and recently finished filming with director Oliver Stone. Gere described his son as talented and handling the pressures of show business well, jokingly stating he could "retire now" as he passes the torch.
Gere and Silva relocated to Spain in 2025, with the actor telling Elle España earlier this year that they are "happier than ever" and described themselves as "soulmates" with shared values.
