Actor Richard Gere, 76, celebrated the Fourth of July with his wife Alejandra Gere, 43, and their two sons, Alexander, seven, and James, six. The couple shared photos from their holiday festivities, which included a boat tour around the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
Alejandra Gere posted a slideshow of images on Instagram, describing the celebration and expressing gratitude for her family. 'Deeply grateful for a life built between two countries, two cultures, and so many people we love,' she captioned the post. 'Today, we celebrate connection, family, friendship, and everything that reminds us that home is not only a place, but the people we carry in our hearts. Happy Fourth of July to our family and friends across the United States.'
The family also enjoyed a picnic on a beach and watched fireworks displays. Earlier on Saturday, the couple, who co-chair the Gere Foundation, took a nature walk. Alejandra shared her thoughts on spending quality time together, noting, 'To me, the best weekends don't need big plans. Just quality time, nature, unhurried conversations… and the joy of reaching the end of the path with the person I love most.'
Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva García-Baquero wed eight years ago. Gere is also stepfather to Silva's 11-year-old son, Albert, from a previous marriage. The couple welcomed their son Alexander in 2017 and James in 2018. Gere also has an older son, Homer, 26, from his previous marriage to actress Carey Lowell.
Gere recently spoke about his son Homer's burgeoning acting career, telling People that Homer is a talented young actor. Homer is set to appear in Ryan Murphy's upcoming 10-episode adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' 2023 novel 'The Shards,' premiering August 5 on FX/Hulu.
