Richard Gere marked his 77th birthday with his wife Alejandra Silva and their six-year-old son James. Silva shared a series of photos on Instagram showing the couple embracing and celebrating the occasion.
Silva, a Spanish activist and publicist, posted the photos late Monday, writing, "No one I rather spend my life with, happy birthday, I love you, we love you." Gere, who is 34 years younger than his wife, wore a birthday hat as he posed with Silva and their son.
Their second son, James, was seen in one photo attempting to join the embrace for a group hug. He was dressed in a blue button-up shirt and white linen pants. Their elder son, Alexander, born in February 2019, was not pictured.
Gere also used his Instagram Stories to draw attention to the devastating floods in Nepal, where the death toll had surpassed 1,000 and thousands were reported missing. He shared a video about the crisis, noting that his "heart is also in Nepal."
Gere and Silva married in April 2018. Their first son, Alexander, was born in February 2019, and James followed in April 2020. This is Gere's third marriage and Silva's second.
Gere was previously married to Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995 and later to actress Carey Lowell, with whom he has a son, Homer Gere. Silva's first marriage was to Govind Friedland, and they have a son named Albert.
Silva's post also included a photo of herself sitting on a bench with a large Alaskan Malamute. The location of the birthday celebration was not specified, but Gere was recently photographed in New York City filming an adaptation of Lisa Halliday's novel "Asymmetry."
