Richard E. Grant Repeats Gaffe, Reveals Radio Prize Winner Early

Richard E. Grant, known for his recent appearance on "Celebrity Traitors," made another public slip-up when he announced the winner of a radio prize prematurely on Classic FM on Friday. Grant, 69, joked that he has a habit of "getting to the punchline too quickly."

On Friday, Grant appeared live on the radio as part of the "Cash Call." He called Andy, a ceramic tiler from Essex, to inform him that he had won a record-breaking £1.25 million, the largest prize in UK radio history. However, Grant immediately revealed the prize without any build-up as soon as Andy answered the phone.

Andy expressed his disbelief and excitement, stating, "I can't believe this. Is this really genuine? We're going to have a big holiday! A family holiday. My wife is originally from Mauritius; we're thinking about going next year and visiting some family. We couldn't afford that so it was just a dream, really, we were trying to go there one day, but hopefully that day has arrived!"

This incident follows a similar gaffe on Thursday evening during "Celebrity Traitors," where Grant revealed he was one of the villains on the show to his co-stars. This confession has put his standing in the game in jeopardy, as he admitted he would face scrutiny at the first roundtable. The episode, which featured other celebrities such as Jerry Hall, Maya Jama, and James Acaster, attracted a record-breaking nine million viewers for its launch.

During the show's second mission, participants were buried alive in pairs in coffins. Jerry Hall and her partner, mathematician Hannah Fry, opted out of the challenge by shouting the code word "haggis," making them vulnerable to being murdered. The first roundtable discussion focused on Grant's confession, with fellow contestant Julie Hesmondhalgh remarking on the risk of the group appearing foolish if they voted out someone who had already declared themselves a traitor.

Viewers on X (formerly Twitter) reacted to Grant's on-air confession, with some finding it entertaining and hoping for his survival in the game, while others expressed concern for the Faithfuls if he were to remain a Traitor. The BBC concluded the episode on a cliffhanger, leaving Grant's fate in the game uncertain until the following week.
