Jeramie Rain, the ex-wife of actor Richard Dreyfuss, has stated her desire to spend her later years with a "love robot" after finding the dating scene in Idaho to be lacking. Rain, a former actress and screenwriter, reportedly told her daughter, Emily Dreyfuss, that she wishes for a humanoid robot that could provide companionship and help with household tasks.

Rain clarified her desire is for a robot that could offer affection and support, mentioning a preference for one with "anatomically endowed" features and "nice lips." She expressed a wish for a companion who would be devoted to her, unlike past relationships with prominent figures in Hollywood and the entertainment industry, including Dreyfuss, Jack Nicholson, and Bob Dylan. Rain suggested that past partners prioritized their careers and were unfaithful, leading her to seek a more reliable and loving connection.

She acknowledged that her "man-picker" may have been flawed, referencing past relationships with individuals she described as "fantasy men" who would "spin dreams." Her impending 79th birthday in August has prompted these reflections and desires.

While a "love robot" with the specific capabilities Rain desires does not yet exist, the development of advanced humanoid robots is progressing. These robots are capable of performing tasks such as making coffee, folding laundry, and assisting in various forms of labor. However, experts note that these machines are not yet capable of genuine emotional reciprocity. Commercially available humanoid robots, such as the Unitree GI, can cost upwards of $18,000, reflecting the emerging market for sophisticated robotics.
