Rhode Island state Rep. Enrique Sanchez, a Democrat, directed a profane tirade at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on social media, vowing a "day of reckoning" for the agency. The remarks, posted on X, came in response to the agency's enforcement tactics and a recent fatal shooting involving an ICE agent in Maine.

"Fighting and dealing with ICE since last year has f----- me up in the head after trying to protect and defend hundreds and hundreds of our community members in Providence and across Rhode Island. Your day of reckoning will come mother------," Sanchez wrote Wednesday. "I swear to god."

Sanchez, who was elected to the state House in 2022, works as a case manager assisting undocumented immigrants. This is not the first time he has publicly criticized ICE. In August 2025, he referred to ICE officers as "Nazi Gestapo thugs" who allegedly "kidnapped another of our neighbors" in Providence, also claiming they damaged residents' vehicles.

Two weeks after that incident, Sanchez stated ICE was "terrorizing" communities and called for "a day of reckoning and no going back." He most recently lambasted "Nazi ICE trash thugs" after an ICE agent shot and killed Joan Sebastian Guerrero, 26, in Biddeford, Maine, on July 13. Authorities stated Guerrero was killed during an attempted traffic stop after he allegedly attempted to flee. An eyewitness told the Portland Press Herald that Guerrero appeared to drive toward federal agents before shots were fired.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Sanchez, ICE, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Rhode Island Republican and Democratic parties for comment.
