Retailers Launch Competing Sales as Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days Begin
Major retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Target are offering their own discounts to coincide with Amazon's October sales event.
Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, a major fall sales event, kicked off on October 6 and will run through October 7, 2026. However, the e-commerce giant is not the only one offering significant discounts during this period. Several other major retailers, including Walmart, Best Buy, and Target, have launched their own competing sales events.
Walmart's "Deals & More Event" began on October 5 and is scheduled to conclude on October 11, offering a full week of discounts on home essentials, technology, and toys. A Walmart spokesperson stated that the event was planned to align with customer shopping habits, particularly as many begin to prepare for the holidays and shop for seasonal needs.
Best Buy is highlighting deals on technology, with discounts of $50 or more on items such as headphones and Apple AirPods Pro. Target is hosting its "Target Circle Deal Days" on October 6 and 7, exclusively for Target Circle loyalty members. Early access to these deals started on October 5 for members of the paid Target Circle 360 tier. New members signing up between September 27 and October 5 can receive a 15% discount on their first purchase.
Other retailers are also participating in the busy shopping period. Wayfair's "5 Days of Deals" event, running from October 5 to October 9, features discounts of up to 60% on furniture, rugs, and home essentials. Lululemon is offering deals through its "We Made Too Much" section, featuring discounts on popular activewear. Nordstrom is holding a sale with reduced prices on a range of items, including denim and handbags. Macy's is also offering discounts on clothing and accessories, while Gap has lowered prices on men's and women's basics. Levi's jeans are also available at reduced prices.
Additional sales include deals from Aritzia on dresses, trousers, and outerwear; Victoria's Secret on lingerie and loungewear; J.Crew on men's and women's basics like polos and sweatshirts; Ulta Beauty featuring discounts on brands such as Starface, Morphe, and La Roche-Posay; and Home Depot offering savings on home appliances and flooring.
Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days is an exclusive sale for Prime members, serving as a precursor to the holiday shopping season. While the event runs for two days, the surrounding sales from other retailers aim to capture consumer spending across a broader timeframe.
