A growing online industry is exploiting the anxieties and feelings of loneliness experienced by men, defrauding them by targeting them with distorted content, according to Kristina Wilfore, Director at Reset Tech. This "Male Grievance Industry" weaponizes core male values such as strength, loyalty, and protection to sell products and ideologies.

Wilfore discussed the findings in a recent interview, explaining that these online operations prey on the economic anxieties and identity struggles many men face. The industry has become a significant business on social media, leveraging these vulnerabilities for profit.

New data highlighted in the report indicates the substantial reach of extreme cosmetic trends like "looksmaxxing." Within the past two years, just 216 social media accounts have been responsible for driving 14.6 billion views for this type of content. The report suggests that this trend is indicative of the broader phenomenon where male insecurities are being amplified and monetized online.
