Former U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell confessed to engaging in sexual relations with a suspected Chinese spy, identified as Christine Fang, also known as “Fang Fang,” according to newly released investigative files.

These documents, made public by the White House Transparency Task Force, suggest Swalwell's involvement with Fang went beyond previously known interactions. Swalwell reportedly told the FBI in 2015 that he had "casual" relations with Fang on several occasions after they first met in 2012. In one instance described in the files, Fang visited Swalwell's apartment and they "hooked up" after he had taken an Ambien, an event he claimed to have little memory of.

Fang, described as a suspected operative for the Chinese Communist Party, reportedly cultivated relationships with a network of politicians and influencers. The newly released files indicate Fang also assisted in organizing fundraising events for Swalwell in Las Vegas and California.

The investigative documents were created between approximately 2013 and 2015, during Swalwell's first term in the House of Representatives. Swalwell has previously stated that he ceased contact with Fang and cooperated with investigators.
