Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, has investments in Bitcoin and Ethereum, according to her latest financial disclosure. The holdings, totaling up to $30,000, are situated within her retirement accounts, specifically a Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF and an iShares Bitcoin ETF.

These investments come as Congress prepares to consider significant cryptocurrency legislation. Tlaib has previously voted against measures such as the pro-crypto CLARITY Act and supported a resolution to ban "crypto corruption." Despite her voting record, her personal financial disclosures reveal ownership in digital assets.

Digital currencies have seen a recent rally, with Bitcoin approaching $71,000 this week. There is a push in the Senate for action on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to regulate crypto under commodities law. A Senate vote is anticipated in September. Separately, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has indicated readiness to establish a regulated market structure for crypto using existing authorities.

Tlaib's cryptocurrency holdings are held within traditional and Roth IRAs, as well as college savings accounts. Lawmakers are required to disclose assets in broad ranges. Her investments in both Bitcoin and Ethereum were noted as being down for the year according to the disclosure.

Beyond her digital asset holdings, Tlaib’s financial disclosures also list mortgages totaling up to $750,000 and a Detroit rental property valued at up to $250,000. Her other investments include international funds focused on Europe and Asia, international bond funds, and a fund designed to hedge against U.S. dollar exposure. Tlaib did not respond to a request for comment.
