Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., has called for Lindsay Clancy, a mother accused of killing her three young children, to face a public execution. Mace stated that such an event should serve as a "warning to women everywhere — you don’t kill your kids."
"Her children are dead, she should be dead too," Mace told TMZ on Monday regarding Clancy, who is awaiting a potential new trial. Clancy's previous trial for the 2023 strangulations of her children concluded in a mistrial on September 4, after the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict.
Mace advocated for Clancy to receive the death penalty, specifying that the execution should be public, whether by "firearm" or "electric chair." "She’s a serial killer," Mace asserted, adding that Clancy "deserves nothing less."
Clancy's defense team had argued for a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. While 11 jurors reportedly agreed with this defense, one holdout juror prevented a unanimous decision.
Earlier, Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, made a request to former President Donald Trump for a pardon. Trump later acknowledged the plea but stated that it was impossible as Clancy's case is a state matter, not federal. "It’s a very sad situation," Trump commented on Sunday. "There is no winner there. There’s no win no matter what you do. Three children are dead." Mace criticized Reddington's pardon request, labeling it a "nasty, ugly" publicity stunt.
