Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., publicly accused Prince Andrew of committing sex crimes in the United States during a speech on the House floor Tuesday, naming the disgraced royal and several other prominent men as alleged co-conspirators of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
"We want perpetrators of these crimes to be investigated and prosecuted," Massie stated, identifying former Barclays CEO Jes Staley and magician David Copperfield alongside Prince Andrew. The congressman asserted, "And Prince Andrew, who committed sex crimes in the US."
Massie, a proponent of releasing further documents related to Epstein's activities, expressed hope that public identification would compel the Department of Justice to act. "Perhaps hearing these names will shame the Department of Justice into delivering justice," he said.
Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was stripped of his royal titles by his brother, King Charles, in November due to his association with Epstein. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
However, in February 2022, he reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexually assaulting her three times starting in 2001 when she was 17. The settlement did not constitute an admission of guilt. Giuffre claimed the encounters occurred at Epstein's Manhattan residence and on his private island.
Earlier this year, British police reportedly arrested Mountbatten-Windsor over allegations of sharing sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the UK's trade envoy. He also appeared in the initial set of Epstein files released by the U.S. Department of Justice. These documents included emails where Epstein discussed offering Prince Andrew a "friend" described as "26, Russian, clevere [sic], beautiful, trustworthy" in 2010.
Further communications detailed Epstein arranging for a "very cute" Romanian woman to attend a private dinner at Buckingham Palace in September 2010. Following the dinner, Epstein wrote to Prince Andrew, "Great fun, more later," to which the Duke of York replied, "Yes please!"
A photograph released in January 2026 as part of the Epstein files shows Prince Andrew crouching over a woman while looking at the camera.
Massie, who is set to leave Congress in January, is advocating for legislation that would compel the U.S. government to release all remaining Epstein-related materials. A proposed provision would grant Epstein's victims access to full, unredacted records pertaining to them.
Representatives for Prince Andrew and the Royal Family did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Representatives for Jes Staley and David Copperfield were also approached for comment.
