Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), is facing multiple felony charges, including three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The charges were first reported Monday by The Denver Gazette.
According to court records, the alleged offenses occurred in 2024, though Tyler Boebert was not arrested until the previous week. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in Colorado on Aug. 19. Court documents state that Tyler Boebert, who was 18 at the time of the alleged incidents, filmed and participated in a sexually explicit video involving a 17-year-old girl. The investigation that led to these charges was part of a larger effort targeting social media accounts circulating sexually explicit videos.
Rep. Lauren Boebert stated that she is taking her son's allegations "very seriously." The congresswoman, who is seeking reelection in Colorado's 4th Congressional District, also told The Denver Gazette that she loves her son. Her office did not immediately respond to further requests for comment.
This is not the first legal trouble for Tyler Boebert. In 2022, he flipped his father's SUV, resulting in a passenger being hospitalized. He was later arrested in 2024 on 22 criminal charges related to robberies and trespass incidents in Rifle, Colorado, pleading guilty to some of those charges. In 2025, he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after his toddler son wandered away from his mother's home in Windsor, Colorado. He has upcoming court dates on Sept. 4 and 10 for sentencing hearings in two prior cases.
Lauren Boebert is set to face Democrat Eileen Laubach in the November election.
