Rep. Lauren Boebert's face exhibited temporary paralysis from recent Botox injections during an interview where she discussed disputes with Republican staffers over a defense bill.
Boebert, 39, explained in a video that she had opted not to be on camera that week due to the cosmetic procedure. "I am talking out of the side of my mouth like a damn politician, 'cause my Botox hasn’t caught up on this side," she stated, pointing to her lower lip. She added that the effects typically take a few days to become symmetrical.
The incident occurred Wednesday after Boebert missed a vote on the National Defense Authorization Act. She claimed that Republican staffers had misled her about the timing of the vote, preventing her from casting her ballot. Boebert expressed objections to a "tech swap" provision between the U.S. and Israel that she wanted removed from the bill.
She stated that while she was still in negotiations as voting approached, staffers assured her the vote would be held open. Boebert asserted they did not uphold their promise.
In 2024, Boebert acknowledged using Botox on a Rumble livestream, remarking that her students had mistaken her for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She also noted that a crooked smile can be a side effect of the injections, which usually begin to show results within one to three days.
