Rep. Donalds Adjusts Campaign Website, Downplaying Trump Endorsement

Florida gubernatorial candidate Rep. Byron Donalds has recently adjusted his campaign website, reducing the prominence of former President Donald Trump's endorsement. The changes come as some Republican candidates reassess their ties to Trump, whose approval ratings have recently fallen.

When Donalds initially announced his candidacy for Florida governor in February 2025, he stated he had "the full endorsement of President Trump," and his campaign website described him as a "Trump-Endorsed Proven Conservative Fighter." The site also featured a section titled "On the Issues," asserting Donalds' commitment to "implementing President Trump's Make America Great Again agenda."

However, the website now features Trump's endorsement as one among several from prominent Republicans. A photo of Donalds and his wife with Trump has also been removed from the homepage.

In response to attention regarding these changes, Donalds shared an updated image of his endorsements page, stating, "I am proud to have President Trump’s endorsement." His campaign has emphasized a focus on policy proposals aimed at making life more affordable for Floridians, addressing issues such as insurance costs and government transparency.

"Our campaign website reflects Byron's focus on the issues that matter most to Floridians -- affordability, insurance costs, and government transparency," Gates McGavick, a spokesperson for Donalds, told ABC News. "He's running to be the next Governor of Florida, is proud to have President Trump's endorsement, and has real policy proposals to tackle those issues."

These adjustments mirror actions taken by other Republican candidates who are seeking to distance themselves from Trump due to voter frustration over issues like the Iran war and rising gas and diesel prices. Despite these website modifications, Donalds has appeared on stage at the GOP midterm convention, supporting the party's platform and legislative record.
