Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., responded to Donald Trump's proposal to rename Lake Ontario "Lake America" by suggesting it be called "Lake Natalie" instead. Trump made the proposal Tuesday after Canada announced retaliatory tariffs against the U.S.

Dingell posted her suggestion on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "Let’s just call it Lake Natalie, so we know you’ll start protecting our Great Lakes." Her comment referenced Natalie Harp, a White House aide who has drawn attention for her close relationship with Trump. Harp has reportedly traveled with Trump on private planes, sometimes while other officials were left to fly on Air Force One.

Harp became a subject of public discussion after Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., mentioned her in a recent speech, accusing Trump of prioritizing personal travel with Harp over his duties. Ossoff claimed Trump "wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar."
