Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., lost his bid for a third term in Florida's 7th Congressional District on Tuesday, his primary defeat coming amid a string of allegations including domestic violence, campaign finance violations, and misrepresentations about his military service.
Mills, 46, was also under investigation by the House Ethics Committee concerning allegations that he benefited from federal government contracts. He faced three Republican primary challengers.
Last year, Mills was investigated for accusations of assaulting a woman, a charge that was later dropped. However, later that year, he was accused of threatening to release nude images and videos of his ex-girlfriend, Lindsey Langston, after their breakup. Langston, crowned Miss United States in October 2024, stated that Mills had repeatedly contacted her with threats to release explicit material. A Florida judge granted Langston an order of protection against Mills in October.
In addition to the personal allegations, Mills faced scrutiny for financial matters, including an eviction lawsuit for more than $85,000 in unpaid rent for his Washington, D.C., apartment. He reportedly paid the outstanding rent the following month after the landlord took legal action.
President Donald Trump endorsed Mills for reelection in February, but did not include him in a list of endorsements posted to his Truth Social account in the week prior to the primary. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis publicly stated on Friday that he did not support Mills.
