Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, has agreed to a plea deal in a child abuse case that could result in jail time, according to reports.

Under the terms of the offer from the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, Tyler Boebert will plead guilty to child abuse or neglect without causing injury. The prosecution has recommended a sentence of up to 30 days in jail, followed by a year of supervised probation. The deal also includes a request for him to enter a parenting program.

He is scheduled to appear before a judge on August 19 in Garfield County court. This plea comes as Tyler Boebert faces additional charges, including those related to the sexual exploitation of a child, stemming from an alleged sex tape filmed in early 2024. The current girlfriend, who was 17 at the time, reportedly contacted police after the video was leaked.

Tyler Boebert was previously charged with misdemeanor child abuse earlier this year after his 2-year-old son was found unattended outside his mother's home on two occasions. Rep. Boebert had attributed the earlier incident to a "miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson."

Rep. Boebert stated, "I love my son" and "We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time." Tyler Boebert was released on a $10,000 bond.

Tyler Boebert, the eldest of the congresswoman's four sons, has a history of legal issues. In 2024, he faced 22 criminal charges, including five felonies, related to alleged thefts in Colorado. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted identity theft in October of that year, with the remaining charges dismissed as part of a plea agreement that included a deferred judgment and 80 hours of community service.
