Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, has been arrested and charged with multiple felony counts of child sexual exploitation. New mugshots were released by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office following his arrest on August 9.

According to Colorado court records, Tyler Boebert faces three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, including a video charge. The alleged incidents occurred in 2024. Court documents describe the charges as stemming from a 43-second video authorities say he is accused of recording involving himself and a 17-year-old girl, which has been classified as child sexual abuse material. The video was allegedly filmed on February 1, 2024, when Tyler Boebert was 18 and the girl was 17.

The alleged victim reported the video to police the day after it was filmed after her ex-boyfriend received a copy. Her mother later informed authorities that the video had been posted to Instagram. Tyler Boebert was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Garfield County District Court on August 19. He has not yet entered a plea.

He also faces two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The Representative issued a statement to the Daily Mail, saying, "I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time."

This is not the first legal encounter for Tyler Boebert. In February 2024, he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse without injury. That charge related to an incident where he is accused of leaving his two-year-old son unattended at his mother's home in Windsor, Colorado. The child reportedly wandered away from the house, prompting a concerned individual to secure him and authorities to be notified.

At the time of the February incident, Representative Boebert told 9News, "There's no excuse for my son's actions and I'm very frustrated this happened." She added that a "kind woman quickly and safely secured him, and authorities were called as a precaution."

The February charge marked Tyler Boebert's second offense of a similar nature. He had previously been cited on July 11, 2023, for leaving his son unattended, leading to a charge of criminal negligence where no death or injury occurred, according to documents from the Windsor Police Department.

Tyler Boebert's son, Josiah, was born in June 2023, making Lauren Boebert a grandmother at age 36. The Colorado Republican had previously stated in a statement to the Daily Mail that Tyler had been "doing a great job getting his life on track as a father and citizen over the past year."
