Reality television personality Reggie Bird has secured employment with Subway, the sandwich chain she had previously criticized for not hiring her. Bird, 52, shared social media posts on Wednesday showing her working at a Queensland University of Technology campus in Brisbane, handing out free Subway rolls to students.

Bird, a two-time winner of the Australian reality show "Big Brother," expressed her enthusiasm for the role, captioning photos with, "Well I had such a great day at QUT up in Brisbane handing out free Subway subs to the uni students. Loved seeing their faces light up when they found out the food was for free. Absolutely loved it."

This new position comes weeks after Bird publicly shared her disappointment at being rejected for a sandwich-making role at a local Subway store. At the time, she wrote, "Bugger... I can't even get a job making sandwiches." She also faced a subsequent job rejection from an Aldi supermarket.

Bird had previously spoken about her struggles to find consistent employment despite her reality television success. In December 2024, during an appearance on the "Mental As Anyone" podcast, she revealed feeling like a "failure" and expressed confusion about why employers were hesitant to offer her opportunities. "I want to work and that starts to make you feel like... no one wants you," she said.

She also discussed how her vision impairment, caused by a rare eye condition, affects her job prospects. Bird has severe vision impairment, including nine degrees of tunnel vision, no peripheral vision, and no night vision, limiting her ability to perform certain tasks. "I'm limited to what I can do because my eyes are so stuffed. I only just see what's in front of me. It's like looking through a straw - that's how I explain it to people," she explained.

Bird, a mother of two, won "Big Brother" in 2003 and again in 2022. She stated that her vision impairment does not prevent her from contributing in the workplace, noting her ability to answer phones and interact with people.
