Reese Witherspoon shared an update after her father, John Draper Witherspoon, was hospitalized following a fall. Witherspoon took to Instagram Stories on Friday to state that her father is now "fine" and receiving care from medical professionals.

"Thank you to everyone who reached out," Witherspoon wrote. "It means the world to our family."

Sources told Page Six that John Witherspoon, 84, was discovered face down on the concrete by the pool of his Nashville, Tennessee, condominium. A resident from a nearby balcony reportedly alerted the doorman, who then found the retired otolaryngologist on the ground. Staff members asked if he was okay before he was transported to the hospital. The Nashville Metro confirmed a medical incident occurred at the building but did not identify the individual.

John Witherspoon served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a surgeon specializing in ear, nose, and throat issues. He married Betty in 1970, whom he met in medical school. They have two children: John Jr., born in 1972, and Reese, born in 1976. The couple separated in the 1990s, and their divorce became public in 2012 when Betty filed a bigamy lawsuit, alleging John had remarried without divorcing her.

Despite the past marital issues, Betty Witherspoon stated in 2018 that they had reconciled and were still married. John and Betty have supported Reese's career over the years, attending significant events such as her Oscar win for "Walk the Line" and her Hollywood Walk of Fame induction.
