St. John's forward Reed Bailey has been granted a preliminary injunction, clearing him to play for the Red Storm for the 2026-27 season. The decision, handed down Tuesday in a California lawsuit, also impacts several other athletes.
The NCAA is expected to appeal the ruling. Bailey, a fifth-year transfer from Indiana, is part of the 2022 high school class that the NCAA did not include in its new eligibility rule, which provides five years of eligibility across as many seasons.
The preliminary injunction in Bailey's case was issued following the second of two hearings. St. John's coach Rick Pitino testified during the initial hearing on September 29.
