Ree Drummond’s adopted son, Jamar Goff, was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and throwing her dog against a wall over a year before his recent arrest on drug and assault charges. The allegations surfaced in legal filings from May 2025, when a woman claimed Goff, 23, displayed aggression during the time he was living at her Alabama apartment.
In a petition for a protective order, the woman alleged that Goff punched a hole in her wall and flipped her couch while she and her dog were present. She further claimed Goff grabbed her by the neck, pushed her onto the couch, and held her down until she could not breathe. The dog was allegedly thrown against a wall, and Goff threatened to harm her, according to the filing.
The woman also stated that Goff, a former University of Central Oklahoma football player, grabbed her arms, leaving bruises, and threatened to lock her inside the apartment. A judge granted her protective order on May 28, 2025, mandating Goff stay at least 500 feet away from her and prohibiting any harassment or threats. This order expired in May.
Goff’s legal troubles also include an incident in May 2026, when he was reportedly detained for allegedly biting a correctional officer’s hand. This followed a 2022 incident where a different woman in Oklahoma sought an emergency protective order, alleging she received “violent” calls and emails from Goff after their breakup and that he threatened to harm her and anyone who intervened. A protective order was issued in that case, prohibiting contact, and it expired in August 2024.
The recent allegations came to light following Goff’s Sept. 15 arrest in Birmingham, Alabama. Police responded to the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus following a report of a suspicious person and found Goff allegedly sleeping near a fountain. According to court documents, Goff told officers he was waiting to purchase methamphetamine and then ran when police discovered an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.
Authorities claim Goff struck a UAB police officer in the chin before being apprehended. He was booked on charges including second-degree assault of a police officer, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude an officer, and drug paraphernalia possession. His bond was set at $37,000.
Goff remains in Jefferson County Jail. He and his brother were fostered by Ree and Ladd Drummond in 2018. The Food Network star has not publicly commented on Goff’s recent legal issues.
