Redwood National Park Named Among World's Top Travel Destinations for 2027
Lonely Planet's annual list highlights the Northern California park for its ancient trees and natural beauty.
Redwood National and State Parks in Northern California has been recognized as one of the world's best travel destinations for 2027 by Lonely Planet. The park, renowned for its towering redwood trees, was featured on the travel publication's annual list of top global sites.
Lonely Planet editor Becca Hunt described the experience of visiting the park as awe-inspiring, even for local residents. "They're breathtaking every single time, plus you get dramatic cliffsides and moody, foggy beaches," Hunt stated. "Wandering through the fern- and moss-laden forests feels like you’ve just gone back in time."
The outlet recommended visiting the redwood parks during the off-season, from October to May, to avoid summer crowds. November is highlighted for the Redwood Parks Conservancy's annual candlelight walk, which illuminates parts of the park with lanterns.
Beyond Redwood National and State Parks, other destinations in North America also made the list. Baja California's Valle de Guadalupe, a wine region with over 100 wineries, was recognized for its appeal. New Mexico was noted for its Old West ambiance and landscapes like White Sands National Park. In Canada, Prince Edward Island was suggested for its beaches, and Alaska was recommended for flight-seeing tours.
On the East Coast of the United States, Maryland was selected for its historical significance and seafood offerings. The list also featured Rose Island in Rhode Island, known for its lighthouse, and Miami, Florida, with recommendations for upscale hotels such as The Standard Spa, Andaz Miami Beach, and The Miami Beach EDITION.
