Supporters have donated over $330,000 to a Red Baron employee, identified as Walt Z, who was subjected to a cruel prank captured on video. The clip, which was initially posted in August, recently resurfaced and went viral across social media platforms.

The video shows Walt Z stocking shelves at a Michigan grocery store. The prankster recording the video approached him and, after asking for the time, pretended to take money from Walt’s phone using an Apple Pay chime sound. The prankster then taunted Walt, claiming he had taken $10 and repeatedly telling the worker to calm down.

Walt initially responded calmly, asking the prankster not to mess with him. However, as the provocation continued, he became visibly upset, stating, "It's not a joke to me... My life is hard enough as it is." He explained that he had children who had gone to bed without him and that he was supposed to have been home an hour earlier. He also expressed concern about being kicked out of the store due to the incident.

"I got kids at home that went to bed without me. I was supposed to be at home an hour ago, and I'm still out here working!" Walt exclaimed. He further stated, "And I gotta get up at five in the morning and do 10 more stores! So this is not a joke to me!"

Social media users overwhelmingly sided with Walt, criticizing the prankster and labeling him an "attention-hungry Instagrammer" and a "wannabe influencer." Many expressed sympathy for Walt's situation.

Moved by the incident, a user named Luke Oakenshield initiated a fundraiser for Walt, stating on the page, "This fundraiser is about standing up for a working person who is busting their butt and should not have to fear losing stability because someone wanted content and clicks." Oakenshield initially sought Walt's contact information to ensure he received the funds directly.

In an update, the organizer confirmed that Walt Z had been located and expressed his "heartfelt thank you," stating he was "absolutely blown away by how much people have cared over this." The GoFundMe page indicated that Walt requested privacy, and the platform would facilitate the transfer of funds. As of Thursday evening, the fundraiser had collected over $330,000 from more than 8,500 donors.

Red Baron's parent company, CJ Schwan's, issued a statement acknowledging the incident. "We are aware of the video circulating on social media involving one of our Direct Store Delivery employees during an incident that occurred in August," a spokesperson said. "Following the incident, we connected directly with our team member to check on his well-being, and we continue to offer our support. We are pleased to share that he is doing well and remains a valued member of our team."
