A significant heat wave is currently impacting large portions of the United States, with record-breaking temperatures forecasted for multiple cities this week. The Northeast region is anticipated to experience its hottest conditions on Wednesday, with New York City expecting highs around 103 degrees Fahrenheit and Philadelphia potentially reaching 107 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the Southwest, cities such as Tempe and Phoenix, Arizona, are already enduring temperatures at or above 110 degrees Fahrenheit, conditions expected to persist through Wednesday. Other areas, including Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Brownsville, Texas, are also bracing for prolonged periods of triple-digit temperatures throughout the week.

While temperatures in the Northeast are projected to decrease into the 80s by the latter part of the week, the cooling trend may be accompanied by severe thunderstorms in other parts of the country. AccuWeather forecasts gusty winds and heavy downpours for Wisconsin and the mid-Atlantic states as the heat wave gradually subsides.
