Reality Star's Daughter Sentenced for Faking Twin Pregnancy

Laura Michelle Owens, daughter of radio personality Ronn Owens, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and seven years of probation for felony counts of lying about being impregnated by Clayton Echard, former star of 'The Bachelor.' The sentence was handed down Friday.

Investigators stated that between May 2023 and June 2024, Owens manipulated Echard and another Arizona man by fabricating ultrasound images, staging a fake pregnancy video, and making false statements under oath. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office initially charged Owens in May 2025. The case expanded to include claims she made against Gregory Gillespie in 2021, which prosecutors said involved forged medical records and the use of other women's identities. One ultrasound image used in her claims belonged to another woman.

Owens pleaded guilty to four felony charges related to these incidents.

The connection between the cases emerged because both men shared the same family law attorney. Echard stated that he felt a significant weight lifted after Owens was indicted on felony charges.

"Clayton's exhausted by this. I've been spending time with him on and off for years since this first happened," said attorney Gregg Woodnick. "It's been a lot of years of watching Laura do a lot of damage to a lot of men. She faked medical records. She fakes medical conditions. She's faking pregnancy. She faked twin pregnancies multiple times, and it finally caught up to her."

In a victim impact statement, Echard described Owens' actions as emotional abuse. "Laura's been carrying out these tactics for at least ten years. She's not sorry. She's sorry she got caught," Echard said. "All of the suffering that she has endured has come from her own doing, and it's her choice. She has chosen her suffering, but she has not extended that privilege to me and the other victims."

Echard, who advocated for jail time, expressed his reluctance to be involved in the legal process but felt Owens' actions warranted punishment. "I didn't want to give up my power at the mercy of the court," Echard stated. "I didn't get to choose my suffering. This image of fragility that she presents is calculated."

If Owens violates her probation, she could face up to 12 years in jail, according to KTAR News.
