Reality Star Mackayla 'Kash' Paige Fatally Shot; Sister Arrested

Reality television personality Mackayla 'Kash' Paige, known for her appearances on shows like "Young & Reckless," was fatally shot on October 11 in Oakland, California. Her sister, Vernika Dunbar, 38, has been arrested and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter in connection with Paige's death, according to the Alameda District Attorney's office and reports from KTVU.

Police were called to the 200 block of 14th Street in Oakland around 1:30 a.m. PT on Sunday, October 11, where they discovered Paige with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. Paige was 29 years old.

Authorities allege that Dunbar intervened in a fight involving her sister, attempting to strike another woman with a firearm. During the altercation, a shot was fired, striking Paige. The Oakland Police Department confirmed Dunbar's arrest on the same day Paige was taken into custody.

Paige was also recognized for her roles in "Real West Coast Baddies" and "RoomH8z," series known for dramatic and sometimes confrontational content, which aired on the streaming platform Now That's TV. Friends and family gathered near the shooting site on Monday to mourn her death. A friend described Paige as "hella fun," while a cousin noted her ambition to become famous and pursue a career in modeling and makeup.

Oakland Police are continuing their investigation into the incident. The department has asked for anyone with information or visual evidence related to the shooting to contact them directly. The Daily Mail has reached out to the Alameda District Attorney's office for further comment.
