Bec Zacharia, a personality from the reality show Married At First Sight, has requested privacy as she recovers from a controversial cosmetic surgery procedure in Bali.

Zacharia, 35, shared an update on Instagram after a period of silence following the operation, which has drawn criticism. She reassured fans that she is recovering well and expressed gratitude for their messages of support. "I want to reassure everyone that I am OK. I've always chosen to be transparent with you all and that will never change. I assure you I will share an update soon," she wrote.

She then asked for personal space during her recovery. "For this short period of time… I'm respectfully asking for a little privacy. Thank you all for your understanding, your patience and for continuing to support me," Zacharia added.

The reality star had spent approximately two weeks documenting her journey with the rib contouring procedure on social media, including moments of indecision leading up to the surgery. Earlier in July, Zacharia announced her decision to proceed with the operation after initially withdrawing it due to online backlash. "I have thought about this long and hard. I've thought about whether this procedure is something I want, and I've decided that I do. So I will be going ahead with the procedure of rib contouring," she stated in a video. She explained her final decision was prompted by feeling disappointed rather than relieved after her initial cancellation.

Days before, Zacharia had revealed she had second thoughts and backed out of the procedure moments before it was scheduled. "I walked in and I thought, 'Am I ready? Is this what I want to do?' I just think that I'm going to take a little bit of time to think about it a little bit more," she said.

Zacharia also emphasized that she had not been pressured by the company facilitating her trip. "The company that's brought me out here isn't pressuring me saying, 'You've got to get it done.' I have the full ability to make that decision as to whether or not it's something that aligns with me," she stated.

The rib contouring procedure reshapes the lower floating ribs to create a smaller waist appearance. It is not available in Australia and has gained popularity among some influencers travelling to Bali, while also facing criticism from medical professionals and social media users concerned about promoting unrealistic beauty standards.
