The Thames Path will experience temporary closures between Scours Lane and the far end of Thameside Promenade nightly from Thursday to Monday, as Reading Festival prepares to welcome attendees. The closures are scheduled from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM each night.
Festival organizers and the council have released official travel information and a comprehensive information page to assist both festival-goers and local residents in navigating the event period. Sound testing is scheduled to take place on Thursday and each subsequent day of the festival, prior to the commencement of live performances. These tests will be conducted under the direct supervision of council officers.
A dedicated hotline, 020 8080 1518, has been established for residents to provide comments or raise queries during the festival. The hotline will be operational from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on August 26, transitioning to 24-hour service from 9:00 AM on August 27 until 3:00 PM on August 31. Additionally, a council-run email address, [email protected], will be regularly monitored throughout the festival duration.
Separately, on Tuesday, festival organizers secured permission to host music on the main stage on Thursdays starting in 2027. The music festival itself is set to begin on Thursday, August 27, and conclude on Sunday, August 30.
