Daily Mail readers captured the recent solar eclipse, submitting a variety of photos that showcased both enthusiasm for the astronomical event and inventive ways of viewing it.

The partial eclipse began in the UK shortly after 6 p.m., with peak coverage occurring between approximately 7:05 p.m. and 7:13 p.m., depending on the viewer's location. The spectacle concluded after 8 p.m.

Among the submissions were images of pets outfitted with protective eyewear, watching the sky alongside their owners. Children were also seen using homemade contraptions, such as colanders and sieves, to glimpse the illusion in the sky, though the effectiveness of these methods for eye protection is questionable.

Young viewers like five-year-old Sonny in east London were photographed in awe, while teenagers Michael and Lottie observed the event in Bexleyheath using homemade lenses. Michael, 14, and Lottie, nine, watched the eclipse using homemade lenses in Bexleyheath, London
