Rays Adjust Pitching Rotation, Face Brewers in Game 2 of World Series

The Tampa Bay Rays altered their pitching strategy for Game 2 of the 2026 World Series, pushing ace Drew Rasmussen back a day to provide him with extra rest. This decision led to Nick Martinez starting Game 1, a gambit that did not pay off as the Rays fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2.

Rasmussen is now set to pitch Game 2 on five days of rest. He will face Brewers right-handed pitcher Logan Henderson, who is making his third postseason start. The Brewers enter Game 2 as -118 home favorites, according to FanDuel.

Despite being somewhat overshadowed during the regular season, Rasmussen has been a dominant force since September. He has allowed just six earned runs over his last 46 2/3 innings pitched. In the postseason, he has surrendered three earned runs across 21 innings, pitching at least five innings without allowing a run in each of his playoff starts and reaching the seventh inning twice.

Rasmussen, who began his career with the Brewers, will pitch in familiar territory. The Rays are hoping his recent performance will allow them to even the series.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Logan Henderson walks away from the mound with a glove in hand.
