Ray Wise Reflects on 'Twin Peaks' Legacy During Rare Los Angeles Outing

Actor Ray Wise, celebrated for his iconic role as Leland Palmer in David Lynch's surreal crime drama "Twin Peaks," was recently seen in Los Angeles. The 79-year-old actor, who first appeared in the series 36 years ago, was spotted taking his dog for a walk.

Wise, originally from Akron, Ohio, maintained a casual appearance in a white t-shirt, black track pants, and sneakers. He has continued to have a prolific career in film and television. His recent work includes roles in two short films this year and an ongoing part in the long-running TV show "The Young and the Restless."

"Twin Peaks" first premiered in 1990 and ran for two seasons, developing a significant cult following. The show explored the mysterious murder of Laura Palmer in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, with Wise portraying her father, Leland Palmer, whose character harbored a dark secret. The series, co-created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, became known for its unconventional narrative, distinctive characters, and enigmatic tone.

Despite its relatively short original run, "Twin Peaks" received critical acclaim and garnered a devoted fanbase worldwide, earning numerous awards including a Peabody Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. The series was revived for a third season in 2017.

Beyond "Twin Peaks," Wise has had a diverse acting career. His film credits include "RoboCop" (1987), "Jeepers Creepers 2" (2003), and "X-Men: First Class" (2011). On television, he has appeared in "Mad Men," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and "Fresh Off the Boat." He also portrayed the President of the United States in the video game "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2" and the Vice-President in the series "24." Additionally, Wise starred alongside George Clooney in "Good Night, And Good Luck" (2005) and appeared in "How I Met Your Mother."

Wise has been married to film producer Kass McClaskey since 1978, and they have two children, Gannon and Kyna, both of whom are also actors.
