Ravens Rookie Receiver Ja'Kobi Lane Out at Least Four Weeks After Wrist Surgery

Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane has been placed on injured reserve following wrist surgery, an injury sustained during the team's season-opening victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The surgery took place Wednesday, and Lane is expected to miss a minimum of four games.

The earliest the USC product could return to the field is the Ravens' Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Head coach Jesse Minter expressed optimism about Lane's recovery, telling reporters Wednesday that the team is aiming for the minimum injured reserve stay. "He'll attack it and he'll be back as soon as it is," Minter said. "Whatever the number [of weeks] is, you try to slice a week or two off of that from a player’s competitive standpoint. I know he’ll be chomping at the bit to get back."

Lane, who was selected by the Ravens in the third round of this year's draft, had a promising start, making his mark during training camp. In the Week 1 game, he had a 4-yard touchdown catch nullified by a holding penalty.

Following the injury, Lane posted on Instagram, "Save your pity I will be back believe that." Fellow wide receiver Rashod Bateman offered words of encouragement, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of a professional career and the importance of focusing on what a player can control.
