Ravens Cornerback Marlon Humphrey Says Meeting Trump Inspired Him to Vote
Baltimore Ravens player Marlon Humphrey attended a Trump rally and experienced his first presidential motorcade ride, which he stated has motivated him to vote in future elections.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey stated that his experience at a rally near Baltimore, where he met President Donald Trump and rode in his motorcade, has inspired him to vote for the first time in an upcoming election.
Humphrey, along with several other Baltimore Ravens players including kicker Tyler Loop, long snapper Nick Moore, and punter Ryan Eckley, were present at an event where President Trump spoke at Sparrows Point on Tuesday. Humphrey described the opportunity to ride in the president's motorcade as an "experience" and unexpected.
"That was a little surprising; that's not how things were supposed to go," Humphrey said of the chance encounter. "But President Trump asked us if we wanted to ride with him, and I was not going to turn down a ride with the president."
When asked about his political beliefs in relation to attending the event, Humphrey indicated that he has not historically been very politically engaged. "To be honest, I did not vote. I don't think I've ever voted," he said. "I did try to vote this last time, but my absentee ballot didn't come in."
Despite his past lack of voting, Humphrey expressed a clear intention to participate in future elections. "So, I don't really have any political beliefs," he continued. "[But] I do plan on voting the next time around."
No information was provided regarding whether the other Ravens players in attendance were inspired to vote as a result of the event.
