A rare turtle, identified as Rhossi, is set to embark on an extensive 5,000-mile journey back to the Caribbean Sea after being discovered stranded in Wales. The complex operation, which has been nearly two years in the making, involves meticulous planning to ensure the turtle's safe transit.

Rhossi's relocation requires him to travel out of water. The journey will begin with a helicopter flight from Anglesey to London, followed by a cargo flight to Houston, Texas, in the United States. From Houston, further arrangements will be made to transport him to his natural habitat. The entire transit must be completed as swiftly as possible to prevent the turtle from drying out or becoming dehydrated.

Careful measures are being taken to maintain Rhossi's health during the voyage. Staff involved in the transport are responsible for keeping his skin and shell lubricated. Approximately eight tubes of KY Jelly and three tubs of Vaseline have been acquired for this purpose, to be applied to his delicate skin and eyes before and during the flight.

The planning for Rhossi's return has included the construction of a specialized, temperature-controlled crate designed for his travel needs. The process also necessitates the coordination of complex paperwork across both the United Kingdom and the United States.
