Rapper Rick Ross's Son Pistol-Whipped in Florida Weeks After Father's Arrest
William Roberts III was assaulted with a handgun in Daytona Beach by a man who allegedly had a prior relationship with a woman Roberts was speaking to.
William Roberts III, son of rapper Rick Ross and a football player at Bethune-Cookman University, was pistol-whipped in Daytona Beach, Florida, on October 11. The incident occurred approximately two weeks after his father, William Leonard Roberts II, known as Rick Ross, was arrested on domestic violence charges in Miami Beach.
According to a police report, Roberts III was speaking with a woman on the street when a suspect approached, brandished a gun, and threatened him. The suspect allegedly stated, “I don’t care who your daddy is, I’ll kill you right here.” Instead of firing the weapon, the assailant struck Roberts III on the head with the handgun before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Roberts III identified the suspect as Don Roberts, 20, who police believe had previously dated the woman Roberts III was speaking with. The rapper's son reported the incident to authorities and subsequently identified Don Roberts from a photo lineup.
Don Roberts was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond.
Rick Ross was arrested on October 1 by Miami Beach police. He faces charges of third-degree felony battery by strangulation and first-degree misdemeanor battery for allegedly attacking his girlfriend over an Instagram photo. The rapper is scheduled to appear in court on October 22.
