Rangers Prospect Adam Sykora Out 4-5 Months With Lower-Body Injury

Forward Adam Sykora will miss the next four to five months after sustaining a lower-body injury during Monday's preseason game against the New Jersey Devils. The injury occurred when Sykora fell awkwardly into the boards after absorbing a hit from Devils defenseman Mikael Diotte.
Sykora, a second-round pick by the Rangers in 2023, had to be helped off the ice and required assistance to skate back to the bench. He had been practicing with the Rangers' AHL affiliate and was considered a potential call-up option for the NHL team if injuries arose during the season.
Last season, the 22-year-old forward made his NHL debut, appearing in 11 games and recording three goals and four points. He also played 62 games for AHL Hartford, where he registered 12 goals and 29 points. The extended absence is considered a significant setback for the promising prospect's development.
Defenseman Vincent Iorio, who also left the preseason opener early, is currently considered day-to-day.
