A countryside ranger engaged in a heated discussion with an individual utilizing a portable stove in the dry conditions of Buckinghamshire's Coombe Hill on Saturday. The ranger emphasized the potential dangers of open flames amidst the current tinderbox-like environment.

The interaction occurred the day after the government issued a national warning via mobile phone alerts, cautioning about the high risk of wildfires across the UK. The warning advised against any activities that could ignite a fire, such as barbecues, firepits, garden incinerators, or fireworks, stating that even a small flame could rapidly escalate into a major wildfire, endangering lives and property.

Despite the national alert, the individual was using a portable stove in the area, which overlooks the Prime Minister's residence at Chequers. The man appeared visibly disappointed during the ranger's reprimand.

However, the confrontation concluded amicably, with both individuals shaking hands on the dry ground.

But the exchange came to an amicable end as the pair shook hands on the tinderbox-dry ground
