Rams Transform Rundown Mall into $10 Billion Village HQ
The Los Angeles Rams are developing a 52-acre mixed-use neighborhood in Woodland Hills that will include residences, retail, and the team's new headquarters.
The Los Angeles Rams are undertaking a significant redevelopment project, transforming a former shopping mall in Woodland Hills into a 52-acre, $10 billion neighborhood known as Rams Village at Warner Center. This ambitious project aims to create a vibrant community hub that will also serve as the NFL team's permanent headquarters and training facility.
The site, once home to The Promenade mall which opened in 1973, had become a struggling retail property. Demolition of the mall began in January and was completed in August, paving the way for the new development.
Rams Village is planned to feature extensive pedestrian open spaces, thousands of residences, community-focused retail outlets, restaurants, a hotel, and office spaces. The project's total development is expected to exceed 5.2 million square feet.
According to Rams owner Stan Kroenke, "Rams Village at Warner Center will continue to transform Woodland Hills by providing a vibrant gathering place for the community through publicly accessible open spaces, new entertainment venues, a retail village and residential offerings." He added that this project presents a "tremendous opportunity to develop a dynamic destination and create the Rams permanent headquarters within the city of Los Angeles."
Permanent construction is scheduled to commence in 2027, with the broader neighborhood anticipated to be developed in phases over approximately a decade. The Rams' two outdoor training fields will be preserved as part of the team's new headquarters. Additionally, a 150,000-square-foot indoor practice facility with seating for up to 2,500 spectators is part of the plan.
The comprehensive development plan for Rams Village includes over 3,100 homes, comprising apartments and live-work units. It will also feature two indoor entertainment venues with capacities of 5,000 and 2,500, nearly 2 million square feet of commercial and hospitality space, a 182-room hotel, and more than nine acres dedicated to public spaces.
