Rams Sign Defensive Back Maximus Pulley Off Eagles Practice Squad

The Los Angeles Rams have signed defensive back Maximus Pulley from the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad to their active roster. This acquisition occurs less than three weeks before the two teams are scheduled to play in Week 4.

Pulley's addition to the Rams' active roster follows the team placing veteran running back Ronnie Rivers on injured reserve due to a calf injury. Rivers had been a key contributor to the Rams' special teams.

According to Eagles reporter Zach Berman of The Athletic, Pulley was a player the Eagles were enthusiastic about but lacked a roster spot for him due to a crowded safety position. The Eagles' current safeties include Andrew Mukuba, Marcus Epps, and Kenny Moore.

During the preseason, Pro Football Focus ranked Pulley as the 12th-highest-graded safety, recording 16 tackles and five stops. He spent the entire offseason with Philadelphia after signing as an undrafted rookie free agent from Wofford. In his final year at Wofford, Pulley recorded five interceptions, returning two for touchdowns.

This strategic move by the Rams echoes a similar situation last year when the Eagles signed offensive lineman Willie Lampkin from the Rams' practice squad shortly before the regular season. With the Rams seeking to avenge a previous loss to the Eagles, they appear to be leveraging every available advantage.
